Dr. Rose M. Booker-Jones is a Retired Clergy of The United Methodist Church. She served faithfully as District Superintendent in the Mississippi River and Iroquois River Districts of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference. Dr. Rose presently serves as Clinical Chaplain at El Dorado Correctional Facility, El Dorado, KS.
Dr. Rose is a Kansas native, educated in the Kansas public schools; earned a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management from Friends University, Wichita, Kansas. She earned the Master of Divinity Degree from Southern Methodist University Perkins School of Theology, Dallas, Texas. She completed her Doctor of Ministry at McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago, Illinois.
Dr. Rose’s love of God and humanity prompted her to continue her studies in behavioral science. She earned a certificate with Lombard Mennonite Peace Center/Mediation Skills Training Institute for Church Leaders. With a deep passion for healing and peacemaking, Dr. Rose earned a Graduate Certificate in Conflict Management and Church Mediation at Abilene Christian University, Abilene, Texas. She also completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS.
Dr. Rose served local churches in Wichita, Kansas, Kaufman, Texas, East St. Louis, and Peoria, Illinois. As a member of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference, Rose served as Chair of the Board of Ordained Ministry, Elected Jurisdictional Delegate, and served as an instructor for IGRC Course of Study and License to Preach School.
Rose served as a Board Member of United Methodist SBC21 (Strengthening the Black Church for the 21st Century). As Program Coordinator of SBC21, she was instrumental in implementing the Collaborative Coaching Network and Academy of Interns. Rose also served as a Board member of North Central Jurisdiction Mission Council, General Commission on Religion and Race, and Board Member of the General BMCR (Black Methodist for Church Renewal) as Chair of Membership. She is featured in “Black United Methodists Preach!” edited by Dr. Gennifer Benjamin Brooks and published in United Methodist Circuit Rider Magazine.
Rose believes that the Church belongs to God. As believers of Jesus Christ, we are responsible for building God’s Church reaching out to all people. It is God’s desire that all are saved through Christ Jesus. She believes that through the healing power of God, “nothing is impossible.” Rose is a proud mother of three children and one grandson.
