Pastor Abe

Greetings and blessings! My name is Abraham Ruffcorn, or Abe. I started in June of 2022 as the Assistant Pastor for Youth and Young Adults and presently serve as Minister for Family Life at FUMC-Carbondale.

My wife and I have been married since January 2019 and we are excited that God has brought us here to Carbondale. We enjoy hiking and being outdoors, drinking coffee, and playing board games. I am an avid sports fan, especially ice hockey, baseball, and football. Also, I love music, including leading worship and playing the guitar and ukulele. I am currently a student at Asbury Theological Seminary, where I am getting my Master of Arts in Christian Ministries and a Certificate in Christian Education. Before seminary, I went to Emporia State University, where I received a Bachelor of Music Education.

Before coming to FUMC-Carbondale, I have served in a variety of ways. In college, I spent my summers as a youth ministry intern and a pastoral intern at different churches, as well as a camp counselor for two summers. My wife and I worked as teachers for a children's ministry in Kentucky, and I was the slides guy for Asbury's chapel services. We look forward to being in ministry at FUMC-Carbondale, helping to make disciples of the youth and young adults that come to us.

My new email address at the church is, and you can also reach me at

Blessings to each of you!
