Youth Ministry

UNITED METHODIST YOUTH FELLOWSHIP

Pastor Katherine Bell

Hello! My name is Katherine Bell and I started September First as the Youth and Young Adult Pastor here at FUMC-Carbondale.

A little about me is that I love coffee, and am an avid Chicago Blackhawks fan. I am extremely passionate about youth ministry, especially missions and camping.  I have been on multiple mission trips and have been involved with the IGRC camping program for years. I graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with degrees in Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry and recently moved to the Carbondale area with my husband, David, who is a Social Studies teacher and coach at Herrin High School. (Let's talk sometime about getting married in a pandemic.)

In addition to studying Youth Ministry, I worked at churches through college.  During the last few Summers,  I served first as counselor and later as program assistant at (United Methodist) East Bay Camp in Hudson, IL.   I’m excited to jump into ministry with all of you and I look forward to all the meetings, events, and mission trips that I’m sure will come.

My new email address at the church is KatherineB@fumc-cdale.org.

Blessings to each of you!

- Katherine Bell

FUMC provides many opportunities for youth grades 6-12 to get together in fun and fellowship.  When things get back to normal again, here are some things we've done in the past and may be able to do again.

Sunday School classes are offered for both Jr. & Sr. High every Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m.

Super Sunday is a monthly gathering for 6th - 12th grade students on Sunday mornings at 10:45. Click the "Upcoming Events" link for details about our next meeting.

Other Opportunities

In addition to our monthly Sunday morning meeting, we try to have another event about once a month. Check out our schedule of upcoming events here.

Annual Service Project

Annual Service Project (ASP) is a mission trip taken each summer.  It is a work week planned to provide insight to poverty as well as encouragement and inspiration to do more for those in need.

The youth also have opportunities to attend United Methodist Camps & Conferences to foster spiritual growth & leadership in youth. Conferences are offered throughout the year and Camps are offered during the summer.
